War is perhaps one of the most despised human activities, and happens when there's a total breakdown in communication between two or more groups of people (nations), conducted by their respective governments. If we agree on this definition, which mentions both nations and governments, it's the governments that bring war to nations. What's inherent in this definition is that governments are representatives of their people, which is not always the case. With increasing tensions in the Persian Gulf, and the imminent possibility of war with Iran, its prudent to discuss the situation further. We would like to particularly stress the following facts:
As a matter of fact, according to the latest polls, less than 10% of the people of Iran support the current Iranian regime, most of which have financial ties with the regime.
And the majority, are fed up with the empty promises and Propaganda of the regime, which condones and prescribes simple living and not care much about material things, whereas there's widespread corruption withing the government. The youth call themselves the Burnt Generation , since they believe their youth has been burnt by the government. The young populace, yearns for the social and individual freedoms that their parents enjoy during the Shah's time.
It seems kind of ironic how the sentiment of Iranians has changed from what was shown in the movie Argo, at the beginning of the revolution, when a decade later, Iranians held a candle light vigil for the victims of 9/11, amid the crackdown of the government (as a side note, many Arabs cheered the incident)
The latest polls, conducted from abroad, mostly in the form of virtual voting reveals an stounding dislike of the regime, specially among the youth and women.
If things continue unraveling as they are now, meaning nothing unexpected happens, the regime won't have enough reserves to pay for its employees, and a government shut down and economic collapse will ensue. Therefore, the regime sees starting a war as a solution, to impose martial law on it's own citizens and crack down on the opposition. People of Iran don't want war, but the regime does.
We are at the brink of another war. This one perhaps could have far reaching effects, with a possibility of quickly turning into a Nuclear conflict. The Iranian Regime is Rotted from the inside. The economy is getting worse by the day, and the future seems gloomy. The Iranian people are being kept busy making ends meet, while the sons and daughters of Mullas ransack the country and plunder it's resources. According to recent statistics, as of this writing, more than 70% of the 85 million population is under the poverty line.
Iran is the largest jail in the world for high-profile journalists and Human Rights lawyers. Nasrin Sotoodeh is a prime example, jailed for defending political prisoners. She's been sentenced to long prison term and 140 lashes (it's so pathetic, it makes one laugh)...
There are gross Violations of Human Rights in Iranian Prisons, and the society at large. The Compulsory Hijab is one example of human rights violation and the Cultural argument is invalid, since before the Islamic Republic, it was optional and actually, the regime has forced it's will on Women and forced them to wear it.
